INDIANS MIDDLE SCHOOL
INFORMATION
Do
You Have a Daughter Entering the 7th or 8th Grade?
This coming fall your daughter will have the opportunity to
participate in interscholastic Athletics for Canal Winchester
Middle School. Some of you may already have a son or daughter
participating in sports, so you may be somewhat familiar with
some of the opportunities available to them. However, for
many of you, this is may be a totally new experience. Volleyball
is one of the Athletic opportunities available in the Fall.
As a 7th or 8th grade Athlete (next August / Fall), your daughter
will have the opportunity to try out and play on the 7th or
8th Grade Volleyball Team for Canal Winchester Schools. Even
if they have never played Volleyball before, but have an interest,
they are encouraged to try-out. Each team will ideally consist
of 10 – 14 girls. So, the entire middle school program
will consist of about 20 – 28 girls. Each Team will
also have their own coach. The 7th and 8th grade Volleyball
Teams travel together and play their matches on Mondays and
Thursdays in the Buckeye Division of the Mid-State League.
Try-outs will begin August 4th, 2008 in the middle school
gym. Notice that this date is a few weeks before school is
in session. Practices are usually everyday, once the Team
is determined. You must have a physical to try-out. The school
usually offers physicals sometime in August. This year we
are going to offer school physicals sooner, hopefully sometime
in May. You may also choose to get a physical through your
own family doctor. All physicals are good for one calendar
year.
If your daughter is interested
in improving her skills prior to try-outs, we do offer a Volleyball
camp here at Canal Winchester. You do not have to attend camp
in order to try-out, although we feel camp is very beneficial.
Girls can also come to camp and not try-out. This is your
decision. Camp runs June 23rd – 26th. Participants are
not limited to Canal Winchester students. Girls from any school
are welcome to attend. Camp registration forms are available
at the middle school and high school or by contacting Coach
Ross Cross@canalwin.k12.oh.us. or Coach Kim Dials Kdials@canalwin.k12.oh.us.
Remember to keep an eye on www.canalwinchestersports.com for
more information and important dates.
